According to PositivePsychology.com, positive affirmations have been demonstrated to lower feelings of stress due to rumination (excessive and intrusive thoughts about negative experiences and emotions).

Repeating affirmations to yourself aloud on a regular basis can give you a more positive and hopeful narrative about what’s going on in your life, who you are, and what you can accomplish.

This is so important after experiencing a breakup because your outlook on things can become bleak. The emotions caused by the separation can spill over into other areas of your life.

This works because our minds can’t resist answering questions. Even if it doesn’t know the answer, your mind will go to work finding an answer, or it’ll make one up!

And since emotions are felt in the body, this emotional mix can literally weigh on your mind and make it hard to focus on, well, anything.

6. Pump up the Volume

Music is such an effective conduit for shifting energy. For example, can you think of a time when you were riding in your car after a long day of work?

For the Love of God, all you wanted to do was get home and relax, but traffic was moving so slow. Then your favorite song came on the radio, and suddenly you were feeling great! And traffic wasn’t so bad after all.

Music has that power over us it can literally change our moods in a matter of seconds. So why not take advantage of this power to heal yourself after a break-up?

But take heed, All music IS NOT created equally. You may want to stay away from slower music because it tends to have a lower vibrational frequency which will probably only reinforce sad feelings.
